The price of becoming...

The price of becoming:
Going back to who I was would mean none of it changed me. That’s not growth, simply amnesia and denial.
I’ve earned every shift in how I see, feel, and choose.
Not because I wanted to change...
because life didn’t give me a choice.
You break, you bend, you rebuild.
And in the process, you drop parts of yourself you once protected, and pick up pieces you never knew you'd need.
To be untouched by it all?
That would mean none of it mattered.
But it did, and it did impact deep.
Every bruise, every silence, every decision that cost me something, that cost me beyond something.
I don’t wear it like a badge.
I carry it like a map...of where not to return.
We all the pay the price of becoming who we are. Either by choice, or by providence. But pay we will.
