Boundaries reinforce self clarity

ree

When you’ve spent your life over-giving, setting boundaries doesn’t just feel unfamiliar: it feels wrong, almost cruel, like you’re betraying the version of yourself that always said yes, even when it hurt. But boundaries are not refusal or rejection, and not coldness. They’re simply the clearest form of self-respect. You don’t need to explain or justify them. Just pause before you give, check if it’s coming from love or fear, and start saying no without carrying guilt.

You’ll lose a few, but only the ones who benefited from your absence of limits. Those meant to stay will adjust, not resent. The ones worth keeping won’t be shaken by your shift from pleasing to protecting yourself. Go ahead, set yourself free!
